It was early morning. The soft tones of baby pink and peach were just receding; instead, harsh white light filled the extent of the forest, seeping through thick foliage. At the edge of a clearing, there was a light rustling in the clumps of bracken that grew there. Then a pale tabby cat emerged from the bracken, the sunlight dappling her silvery coat. Whiskers twitching, she opened her jaw and tasted the air for prey or predators. Scenting neither, she entered the clearing and onto the dirt path that wove through it.
Silverclaw was on dawn hunting patrol with the Clan leader, Icestar. She had hoped for a juicy vole but this early in the morning there were none. Gazing across at the Snakepath, the stretch of trail that serpents loved to crawl near, she flicked her ears behind her. “Icestar?” she called tentatively behind her, turning to where she had last left her leader. She carefully trod over to the spot, but a sudden flash of movement to her right caught her eye. Hissing, she whirled around to see a slender, dark chestnut snake slither off into a clump of heather. She twitched her nostrils, breathing in a faint smell of snake.
Odd, why hadn’t she noticed it before? This could have really endangered her leader. Then again, she didn’t particularly care if it struck Icestar with its venomous fangs. After all, she had 9 lives and besides, there would be a new leader and they were all the same. They all possessed a sense that they were superior and controlling. Yet Icestar… Now she was a competent leader, in Silverclaw’s eyes, as she was quiet and friendly. Although she refused to admit it, the petite white leader had grown on her. “Icestar! I’m over here, by the Snakepath!” Silverclaw dared to raise her voice, resisting the urge to add on “mouse-brain” at the end. Waiting, she curled her fluffy tail about her body with impatience.

The day was nice so far and Icestar decided that it would be nice to go out to patrol. Silverclaw was with her, and being a new leader Icestar had to learn everyone's names and personalities, soon she had to choose a deputy and that would be hard. They walked along the Snakepath which could be dangerous, or an exiting thing, but Icestar stopped for a moment, her aqua green eyes spotted the perfect tree which to leave her mark.
The leader was kind most knew that, and protective of her family which was her clan, but today it seemed the leader was a little bit distracted. Her mind was thinking back to her father, she did not even know which clan she was even born in. She knew i was far from here, days journey, she could not remember its name even. She could barely remember her own brothers name. But what she did know was how cruel and harsh her father had been. Icestar had been the runt out of her two brothers, she wans't dead or the tiniest kit born in that clan but her father though if he pushed her harder then anyone else. Even though she was not an apprentice, she would grow strong. Maybe it had worked, but she would never forgive him.
The leader snapped back, Silverclaw was calling for her. Icestar's small paws ran to her side. She slowed down now, tail moving slowly from side to side, she was worried. Did her warrior see a snake? Intruder? Why had she been day dreaming? ''What is it Silverclaw?''. Icestar looked at her, worry in her eyes.

As the sun was reaching its hands of pink out and up over the horizon, Fallenleaf was sleeping away in his den. His back leg was twitching as he ran in imaginary fields and caught imaginary rabbits and fought in imaginary battles. His paws were racing, and he was simply gleeful as he slept.
But then things started to darken horribly. The rays of sun were covered by horrid black clouds, and the dark matter above him growled viciously at him. Fallenleaf stopped an looked up at the sky with his intense blue eyes. What had he done wrong? Why was StarClan mad at him? Did he offend anyone? What had he done to deserve this? Nothing. He'd done nothing to deserve this. So he called out, opening his muzzle wide and waiting for the insults to come flying out of his mouth. But as soon as he opened his jaws, the clouds rumbled again, and if he'd said anything it could barely be heard.
A flash bolted down faster than he could see. For a second it was bright, light glaring in his eyes, and then it was gone. He squinted, looking around. The clouds had gone in that single flash, and it was happy again. But it wasn't happy. Something was wrong. It was too good to be true. It was unnerving in a way.
Then he felt it. Pain creeping up his left hind leg. He cried out in agony and collapsed, peering down at his own leg, which was now soaked and matted with his blood. What had he done? What made StarClan wish to hurt him like this? Had he falted in any way? With parted lips, he called out "Why are you doing this to me?" before opening his already opened eyes.
He tried to catch hold of the breath that had evaded him, gasping and choking. He looked anxiously down with his shining blue eyes to his leg. The red scar was burning quite a bit, and it contrasted horribly against his patch of white fur there, but it wasn't bleeding. He'd be okay.
Standing up, he shook himself as he balanced on his three paws. Gazing arounf to check at his herb stocks, he found himself in balance. Some were missing, but others were in high supply, so he'd make do until he next went herb hunting.
"Icestar!" the cry sounded from a few paces off, and Fallenleaf perked up his ears to listen. "Icestar! I'm over here by the Snakepath!" Recognizing the voice as Silverclaw, he trotted over to where the sound was coming from, trying not to lose his balance as he ran rather swiftly.
He arrived upon the scene to find the warrior and the leader already there, staring at a snake that was winding its way up from the grass. He hissed at it, his ears flattening, before giving a curt nod to the two she-cats. Then he focused his attention back on the snake. How desperately he wanted to pounce on it! But his leg wouldn't allow him to do so. Instead he just stood there, going through the herbs in his mind that could help with a snake bite.

Leaves still golden and crisp from leaf-fall crackled as Icestar bounded over to Silverclaw’s side. As she reached her, the serpent emerged from the heather and slithered closer. Although all her instincts commanded her to run, Silverclaw remained where she was, gazing with acute fascination at the snake. Never before in her life had she actually seen one, though she had smelled their stale scents.
“Nothing much, just a snake” Silverclaw replied casually, as if she were not anxious, as if her heart weren’t beating out a painful tattoo in her chest. She inched closer to the snake, wanting to impress her new leader enough so that she would not later question her actions, wouldn’t cast her off as an exile if she were caught trespassing on enemy territory. She glanced back at Icestar, confidence sparking in her amber eyes.
Suddenly, more rustling from the direction of the AspenClan camp distracted her. Silverclaw rotated her muzzle until her eyes locked onto the ocean blue eyes of Fallenleaf, their Clan’s Medicine cat. Fallenleaf had an odd expression on his face. Abruptly, a troubling thought entered Silverclaw’s mind. Why was the Medicine cat here? Suppose he wondered what she and Icestar were doing? Suppose he suspected of her leading Icestar into a trap? Startled by these thoughts, she backed away, not realizing the snake had drawn closer until it was too late. Hurriedly leaping aside, she felt two piercing fangs penetrate her left hind leg, drawing precious blood from her body.
Her muscular body crashed into the dirt ground, writhing with pain. The scars lining her back tingled, her ripped ear twitched. She gasped for breath before the entire world spun once before darkening to black.

Icestar was a little distracted, no lets say a lot. First off they where a very small clan, so small they could barely be called a clan. But they where gaining members which Icestar was glad. And two she was a small cat, not the tiniest thing, but to others leaders she might not look intimidating at all. Which can worry a leader like Icestar. But she has to put that all side because it seems trouble is on there land. Icestar could see it now, her large eyes could almost not believe it, she though all the snakes had gone! Its Leaf-Bare. But the she-cat had to be-careful, ''Okay we need to chase the snake as far from here-'' But her words got cut off, the snake started to move fast, closer. Icestar was getting worried. Plus she was sure she could hear some one close by but she was to focused on the snake to see or smell who it was. But everyone was too late and so fast. Even before she had the chance to jump or scare the snake. It had bite Silverclaw. Icestar hissed now, getting the snake as far as possible so it didn't have the chance of biting her or anyone. You got to make your self safe before you can help some one and Icestar was making sure of that.
The Smaller white she-cat looked down at her warrior, she had no idea how bad his was, she wished Fallenleaf was here now. ''Silverclaw.. Silverclaw?'', Icestar shook the cat, hoping she was awake. Plus she could not just leave Silverclaw alone. But but.. The smell was close, and that noise. Icestar finally looked around. It was one of her clanmate she could tell, ... its its.. ''FALLENLEAF. HELP!''

Fallenleaf tensed at the sound of the silver she-cat's voice, his blue eyes locking with her panicked ones. Why was she so afriad? He wasn't here to hurt her. But she backed away from him nonetheless, and before he knew it she was crawling on the ground in pain before growing still.
He instantly leaped into the air, exchanging a brief glance with his leader before sprinting to his den. His own leg was irritating him, the scar burning vividly, but he ignored it entirely. He knew exactly what to grab. Or he thought he did. Marigold, for the infection, snakeroot for the poison and swelling, and cobwebs, of course, for the bleeding. But as soon as he got there, his heart sank. There was no more marigold. He was completely out.
Settling for dried oak leaf instead, the medicine cat grabbed the herbs and bolted back to the scene of the crime, finding the warrior knocked out. The poison was getting to her. Taking a bit of the cobwebs, he wiped as much of it out of the wound as he could. Then he grabbed the other herbs and chewed them and arranged them to the best of his ability on her leg, which was now freely bleeding. He wrapped the cobwebs around in a certian manner, almost like a cast. And then, he was gone in a flash.
He was in the FrostClan medicine cat's den. He was a little kit, with the same sort of cobweb cast around his own leg. And there was a scar reaching down to his foot. His father was there, looking distressed as he talked to Cherryblossom about Fallenleaf's future. And with a discraced look, his father left. Fallenleaf was worthless to him. Fallenleaf would always be worthless to him.
The medicine cat blinked a few times, coming back. Only a few seconds had passed, but he cursed himself for the interruption. Turning back to Silverclaw he prodded her leg gently, he completely ignored the leader. He'd talk to her later. He had wanted to speak to her anyway. Right now he was focused on his patient, and nothing else. Come on... he thought as he stared desperately at her with his blue eyes. Come on, wake up... by StarClan, please wake up.... Dark shapes huddled close, clouding her already blurry vision. Low voices conversed, mingling with the sharp scents of herbs. All these sensual details clogged up her brain, confusion ensuing. Who… what… “Will she be right again?” a harsh voice asked, oozing contempt. It was not ‘will she be okay,’ but rather ‘will she ever be normal’ that Silverclaw could sense. “Yes, yes she will,” a soft voice, carrying like the breeze, entered her mind. Vaguely, she recognized this to be the Clan medicine cat’s voice. “She just needs rest, plenty of it. But her ear… her ear will be in much pain…” No, that was not true. It was her leg that was painful, raging like flames were licking its sides. Her leg…
“Hmnnn…” Gradually, Silverclaw’s vision cleared, and she blinked her amber eyes with pain. The dark cats who’d previously been crowded around her had vanished. In their place crouched a small, pure white cat – Icestar – and a soot colored cat – Fallenleaf. Both were gazing anxiously at her.
“I… I think I’m alright…” she murmured faintly, all her distrust dissipated at the kindly look upon the two faces before her. Weakly, she twitched her wounded leg and winced as ice-hot pain shot up to her spine. She turned to examine it, relieved that the puncture from the snake was only at the barest edge of her leg. Hopefully it would not scar. Weakened by the effort it took to process this thought, she could only mouth her gratitude silently. Thank you.
From her right, another sudden movement occurred. Flicking its spindly tail with anticipation, it crawled closer. The snake had still not been slain. It was also directly behind Icestar and Fallenleaf, in a position where it could not be detected by scent or sight. Time seemed to freeze, for now was the moment to question her loyalty. Would she allow her leader to die just because the thought seemed to please her? Could she somehow spare Fallenleaf for rescuing her? Would she herself make it alive if there was no one to kill the serpent? As it poised to strike her leader, she relaxed her jaw and managed to utter, “S-s-snake!”

It had gone by so fast, Icestar felt horrible not only because she was the leader but because she was responsible for their lives. It felt horrible for the white she-cat to know that she let her warrior in to danger, and did not see it coming, but it could have been worst she was sure. Other creatures, maybe even dogs. But with luck their Medicine cat was here and Icestar thanked Starclan for that.
The she-cat remembered a time when she joined here at a young age when many cats where being attacked by snakes, and she never wants to let that happened. As soon as they where done with Silverclaw and she was fine Icestar herself would drive that snake away, or even kill it if need be. Icestar watched now as Fallenleaf came back, herbs in the cats mouth. She watched as he looked over Silverclaw, but would the tom loose sight? hearing? his leg? You would never know how bad some of these snakes venom could be! Icestar felt like pacing but it seemed her warrior was waking up. The she-cat was back by her side, looking at Silverclaw with bright aqua eyes. ''How bad is it Fallenleaf? Will she have to stay in your den for a while?''. Silverclaw spoke, she said she was fine but Icestar could not be sure, Silverclaw could just be thought or trying to survive but the next thing out of her mouth made Icestar jump. Claws out. The Snake was there it was ready to pounce, Silverclaw had just saved their lives and Icestar owed her that, if she had not said anything Icestar could have lost a life or more. This snake must be killed. The snake jumped though and Icestar dodged, its fangs so close to her shoulder. ''It must die!'', this was a way of Icestar to tell them to go, run if they can, she would try and kill it now.

Fallenleaf sighed with relief as the she-cat sat up. Thank StarClan... he thought, as happy as could be. He hadn't lost a patient to their paws yet, and he didn't plan on it happening any time soon.
The slender warrior stood up shakily, and helped ease her up. "I think I"m all right..." she said, but the medicine cat could tell that she was a bit shaky. Her bandage was dappled red already- he made a mental note to change it with a fresh one in the den.
"You may have to stay with me for a little while..." he said gently, looking at her with his reassuring blue eyes. "It won't be long. A sunrise or two." He smiled, calm as ever, with his winning grin that was known to relaxing cats. Much like his healing ability, his calmness never failed. Yet.
Whirling around, he saw that the poisonous snake was still behind him. He hissed softly, but didn't stand up, for he feared that his clumsiness would knock this she-cat right back into the fangs of the beast. He cursed at his leg, trying to steady himself as he sat. "You might want to kill it now, Icestar," he said as smoothly as he could, but his voice still firm. It was a relaxed sort of warning, lacking the usual respect and replacing it with tense words that hid his anxiety.
((Sorry that was awful, I'm lacking muse right now.))

A silvery mass tinged with light blue lay curled up amongst the mossy floor of the woods. Extremely exhausted, the she-cat could only manage to raise her muzzle for a second before sinking back down again. Above her, she was vaguely aware of her leader and their Clan Medicine cat conversing. More specifically, they were debating what to do with her. Somehow this seemed to irritate Silverclaw. She rather disliked being discussed about as if she were some distasteful bit of fresh-kill or some enemy Warrior. “I-I just need some rest. In my own den,” she added rather harshly, distrust springing into her pale amber eyes.
Events began unraveling before the heat of the day even struck. The silver she-cat was rendered vulnerable on the forest floor while a great serpent attacked her leader. Silverclaw loathed being so unable to assist the stark white leader while they were all in such grave danger. Meanwhile I’m stuck with a lame so-called Medicine cat! she thought bitterly. She lashed her silver dappled tail viciously and unsheathed her claws, despite it having no effect whatsoever on the present circumstances. She was hoping to use them as self defense, even more so she hoped she’d get the chance to still impale the snake anyways.
Unbelievably, fate seemed to favor her as the snake lunged at Icestar, weaving a path directly over Silverclaw’s thrashing body. With the reflexes of a serpent, she speared the snake with one claw, slowing its movements for a while. However, the wound she inflicted wasn’t serious, as the writhing snake moved faster than she’d calculated. Despite its torn body, the lithe serpent managed to land onto Icestar’s petite frame.

The she-cat was a little worried, Silverclaw would not or could not move, and if she did she would not go with Fallenleaf. Icestar was very frustrated you could say, But she had to focus on the snake, it was moving fast, and she had to make the decision where to kill it or just run it off. But it was too late, the snake jump a different direction and Silverclaw managed to give it a wound, not huge though. Icestar was about to kill it but the snake jumped her, Icestar tried to kill it, her paws where moving towards it skin, but the snake was quicker, It bit Icestar on her shoulder, she fell, but not before she hit the snake, she cut it, but Icestar could not see if it died.
Icestar's pain was immense, she felt as if her insides where burning, but what she was truly worried about was her lives, yes she still had all 9 but with this huge bite and the venom Icestar was worried she would lose one to two lives. Icestar was truly scared. And it seemed to be to late, Icestar was fading, she had never lost a life before, but she knew what was happening. She was down to 8 lives now. Her ancestors came, but soon gave her back to her body, back to life. And Soon Icestar was back in pain, unsure what to do and say. Plus she knew how much trouble this would be for Fallenleaf, how would he take two hurt cats back?

Fallenleaf watched in helpless dismay as the silver she-cat on the forest floor impaled the snake before it leaped onto the leader. He gasped, stepping forward, but it was too late. The snake was dead, and so was Icestar. She was losing a life.
The medicine cat didn't bother to treat her just yet. He'd wait until she woke up. So he turned back to Silverclaw and frowned, his blue eyes full of dismay. He'd just practically saved her life, and she seemed so... ungrateful. Her words were sharp, and though she didn't directly say it, he could see it in her eyes. She didn't want to go with him. He was just the stupid medicine cat who could barely walk. And, though he knew he wasn't the best at his profession, he wasn't bad. He'd brought her back from the dead, hadn't he? He figured he at least deserved a "Thank you for saving my life," or a "Wow, you're my hero". But no, he was the crippled medicine cat who fell out of FrostClan. Who was pushed out of FrostClan.
He sighed, hoping the warrior noted the sorrow in his blue eyes, and turned to the leader, who was beginning to wake up. Her eyes opened, and for a moment he was lost in their beauty. Their... their what? Did he just think that she was beautiful? Well, that white coat, those gorgeous orbs... No! He was a medicine cat! Right now, his job was to heal her. And that's exactly what he tried to do.
"Here..." Fallenleaf said, helping her up. Her wound was healed by StarClan, but she was clearly weak. "Icestar, if you can walk on your own, you'll have to, because Silverclaw's leg is still injured," he tried to explain, looking down at the she-cat. "That is, if you want help from the crippled medicine cat." He muttered the last sentence, but he said it as true as he could. He was sick of the disrespect. The disrespect form Silverclaw, the disrespect from Raggedclaws... he was trying to help, and they didn't care. So he was going to return the attitude until he got what he thought he deserved. A gasp of pain brought the silver she-cat sharply to her senses. Much too sharply. Now not only was she aware of the acute pain in her left leg, she also could smell the fear scent smothering the air. Twisting her head around, she saw that Icestar was bleeding profusively. An enormous gash had opened up, staining her meticulously white fur a dark scarlet. Concerned, Silverclaw stood up with some effort and padded over, sinking her claws into the snake unconsciously.
Icestar’s eyes were closed; her thin chest lay immobile. Solemnly, Silverclaw reflected, So this is what it looks like to lose a life. Somewhat subdued, she turned to face Fallenleaf. The spotted Medicine cat said nothing either. Instead, he fixed the silvery blue she-cat with a hard stare. Fire leaped into his cold eyes as he glared at her. Silverclaw met his stare coolly, wondering if after how badly she’d treated him he’d still heal her later. But this was the Medicine cat! He couldn’t deny her that privilege or risk angering StarClan. With that vengeful thought in mind, her lips curled in a half smirk.
She limped a few steps back towards camp, wincing as she did so. By StarClan she was fortunate the wound wasn’t deep and didn’t ail her too terribly. She found she could at least walk a ways, allowing Fallenleaf to care for her leader and unburden him. As she passed by him, she muttered, “Cobwebs to stop the bleeding, half hoping to anger Fallenleaf further. That was really fundamental healing knowledge; everyone in the camp knew that because of the wealth of predators they had in their territory.
However, as she passed her gaze over his icy eyes, she was puzzled to see admiration in them. That certainly wasn’t because of her remark, and it certainly wasn’t because she was the one saying it. Following his stare, she was astonished to see the love in his eyes was directed at Icestar, her leader. There she hesitated, her mind whirring with digesting these new thoughts. This could really be to her advantage. After all, Fallenleaf obviously couldn’t take Icestar as his mate, that would be breaking the Warrior Code. Not only could Medicine cats not have mates, female leaders couldn’t either. Grinning despite her wound, she nearly flew back to camp, playing with several different outcomes of how this could work perfectly in conjecture with her plans.

Icestar's eyes opened up, she was i pain, but she tried not to show it, but she did fell a sticky mess on her shoulder. must be blood. The she cat sighed and tried to stand, it hurt a lot, she winced, but they all seemed to be some how hurt, and or unable to help each other. Icestar sighed. ''Ill be okay. You guys go ahead, ill limp in behind''. Truly Icestar had never seen such a brave snake, they usually leave after a cat's hiss or two. But that was one bad bad snake. Plus her memory was blurred, she could barely remember her trip to starclan. It was scary, but amazing. Well she was alive and Icestar had to care for her clan.
The she-cat hopped they listened and would start walking, but if they did not she did not care for now, she would start walking her self. Lifting her injured limb of the floor, she winced once more but got too her feet, and she took it one small step at a time. Icestar was not paying attention much to the other two cats, she just wanted to get to camp and for everyone to be treated. Icestar sighed, well this was the life of a leader, and that's how it would be. But with her mind else where she needed to get this pain out of her head, this question was random but she wanted to know... ''Would i make a good mom?'' .
