At was another calm evening. A soft sprinkling of rain pattered silently over the tall, sharp grass of the knoll. As birds and beasts alike cowered in their shelters, the rain began to swell into a downpour. Soon all the land was drenched in the tears of the clouds. The night-washed land glowed in the darkness. Faint flickers of light dotted the skies as a brisk wind swept the clouds away, revealing a pale and shaky full moon.
Below, the dark figures of two silhouettes appeared in the moonlit darkness. Their fluffy pelts were as dark as blood and were faintly tinged with scarlet and fiery orange. In low, garbled tones they whispered softly. “Now, my dear?” the smaller of the two queried quietly. “Yes, now. Now we kill cat.” Its voice was husky and growled of sweet revenge. “These cat, they do not know the true pain. Now they will.” As the lighter one murmured assent, the two shadows vanished off. A wheezing chuckle still hung low in the night.

Scarredstar was admittedly uneasy as he began the steady journey towards the Gatheringplace, the selected cats of his Clan behind him. For a while, he was at the head, Miragepaw just behind him, but Littlewhisker stepped forward until their paces matched.
"Scarredstar," she murmured. Her tiny paws looked so odd beside his massive ones."I heard about the fox..."
Scarredstar flicked an ear, not meeting her gaze. "It was an old fox."
"I'm proud of you," Littlewhisker mewed, in her soft, light voice, and touched her tail to his. She moved over until their pelts brushed, tawny-grey tabby with mostly white. Then she fell back, joining Lizardtail.
Though he'd been silent and stoic, Scarredstar was thankful for her support. He could face a wild dog with claws slashing and eyes ablaze, but foxes still haunted his nightmares. Or rather, they had. No longer.
He glanced back at his Clan, his strong and brilliant warriors and apprentices, and flicked his tail to signal for them to follow. He headed towards the center of the meetingplace, and convened, silent, with the other leaders.
It was time to face the Gathering for the first time as leader.

FrostClan
Sweetbreath was trailing along behind the rest of the group, she wasn't all that excited as normal. There was an eerie feeling in the air and it disturbed her and made her soft fur ruffle the wrong way. She was tempted to turn around and head home honestly, but Darkstar chose her along with her fellow members, and hopefully this gathering wouldn't turn sour! She normally enjoyed gathering ever since she was a young apprentice, with all the cat's at peace she felt happy and was curious about their ways of life, however tonight with the gloomy rain and the dark feeling, she wasn't so sure how she felt. Once the Gathering place was in sight Sweetpaw sighed and as her clan dispersed she did as well and found a nice comfortable spot trying to shield herself from the rain.
Splitpaw rolled his eye as they left camp, at least he was going instead of his brother even if he was going as the Medicine cat apprentice. He followed Closely behind his mentor and glanced at the other cats going, he noticed a rather jumpy apprentice trailing after the deputy and figured he was a new apprentice who's mentor just happened to be the deputy. Splitpaw felt his inner jealousy come out, they let an overactive fur-ball be the deputy's apprentice but not him? Not fair! He had forgotten his mentor had already planned for him to be her apprentice but he still that it was not fair. Splitpaw huffed and as they approached the gathering place he could care less, he just trailed after his mentor and would try to figure out where he should sit and wait...Looking around with his one blue eye he guessed where he should sit, most of his conversations would be with the other medicine cat apprentices no doubt. How lame.
Bearpaw darted around the other cats, oh he was so excited! "OokaClaw! Ookaclaw! Are we there yet, Oh my StarClan I'm going to get to see the other leaders! Oh this will be great!!" he was so excited he wouldn't shut up the whole way there! Darting around his mentor he hopped and rolled, and most likely would get a good scolding but before any warrior had the chance he saw the gathering place, it was so awesome!!! He had seen it before when Ookaclaw took him out and showed him the borders, however he had never seen it this late! The rain didn't even affect him he just bolted toward the other, what he thought were apprentices and sat himself down and would look at anyone willing to accept his copper gaze. "Hi! I'm Bearpaw!! I'm From FrostClan!!!" he would cheerfully say excitedly and wait for someone to respond, either that or would just accept the odd stares he must of been receiving.
AspenClan
Lizardtail was feeling like his usual self, Bossy and grumpy. Earlier in the day he commanded an apprentice around and forced him to go catch a few pieces of prey for the prey pile, and was feeling pretty good about himself. 'Darn apprentice, they need to work more, and stop eating so much! Maybe then there would be food left for us older folk.' he hissed in his thoughts and rolled his eyes. A breeze ruffled his short fur and he hissed out loud "Darn this cold air! My joints ache and I'm not even an elder yet!" he was agitated and wanted to just sit down. Why did Scarredstar chose him, he would much rather be sleeping in the warriors den all warm and cozy, well at least he would get some respect at a gathering, being all senior warrior high and mighty...well he wished he was respected, most just called him an old badger or a grump. Once they arrived he slipped on over to where the other warriors sat and layed himself down on the moist grass, He couldn't help but notice an uneasy feeling...might just be his joints acting up again.
Miragepaw glanced around as they made their way to the gathering place, he wasn't sure where he should walk now...His mentor was recently made leader and well he normally would flank him however not that he was leader...Miragepaw had no idea where he should walk. Confused and unsure he just stayed at the back of the 'pack' and walked silently. He wasn't sure what to expect tonight, he had been to another gathering before but it wasn't special. He was hope-full that he might get away with not talking to anyone however at gatherings most cats would find any reason to talk to the somewhat anti-social apprentice. As they approached he blinked and looked at the other cats assembling and sighed. He knew he wouldn't be able to get away with sitting next to his mentor the night since he would be busy with his leader duties, So Miragepaw decided to just sit a little further away from anyone and would watch his mentor.

“But I don’t want to go!”
The tabby apprentice knew she sounded very much the kit when she initially uttered those words. But it was truly what she wanted. Her pleas fell upon deaf ears. Adderpaw was the SoulClan Medicine cat apprentice, and she had a duty. She simply had to attend the Gathering. It was not a question of her own preferences.
The night was quiet and cloudy. Adderpaw’s hopeful, jade green eyes glanced into the swirling masses of mist that obscured the moon. Perhaps the Gathering would be canceled because of that. A sudden gloating emotion overtook her. What, you’re afraid oh so mighty StarClan? she cooed in her mind tauntingly. Her smirk widened as fat droplets of rain pelted her tawny fur. Normally, she cringed from the rain that which beat upon her skin, pummeling her with its punches. After a downpour her silky waves of fur were matted, drenched, and frizzy. Not a terribly delightful experience. But today, she danced beneath the dark skies.
By the time her and her Clanmates alit upon the grassy knoll on which the Gathering was held, she was not amused. Icy curtains of rain had seeped deep into her skin, past the fluffy layers and drowning her very insides. And now it had ended too. Up above, if she cared to look, twinkles of stars appeared. The superior Warriors who reigned StarClan glared from the heavens. Irritated, she pressed her soaked belly close to the mud pathways that led to the spot, as if she could not bear walking upright and being even a mouse tail’s length closer to the stars. Grime and mud could be washed away. Shame and humiliation could not.
Adderpaw crawled to the driest and lowest location she could find, and buried herself beneath the tall grass that acted as her shield. She was hunched in a quite uncomfortable position, very undignified as well. Her muted green eyes glaring, she surveyed the terrain around her. Just grass and trees, nothing much special. She settled down and waited, ignoring the shifting of bodies as more cats joined the ranks.

She hadn’t even remembered the names of those she had chosen! What kind of a leader would she be if she kept forgetting the names of her warriors? The only one she remembered asking was Cinderheart. Glancing behind her she waited for her clan mates to catch up. Breezestar would not be joining them, as he was … sick… and had to stay back in camp, or… she couldn’t remember! Easternsky hated feeling insecure, but she just couldn’t help it this night. Sighing she looked across the other territories. She had never gone to a gathering without Breezestar! Her nerves twitched and her heart raced.
Hopefully Breezestar would catch up… that’s all she could do, was hope. Suddenly, she felt something wet hit her pelt. Looking up to the sky she noticed it was darker than usual. Rain, rain, go away! Come again some other day! she thought desperately. The last thing she wanted to do was speak at a gathering where it was raining. She let another sigh escape her lips, she needed to collect herself. She needed to calm down. The words would come to her, just as the sometimes did, and everything would be alright. Star Clan was watching out for her.
Stopping at the edge of the clearing, Easternsky took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. She didn’t want to appear as frazzled as she felt. When she felt calm enough, she gave the signal for her cats to go on in. There were already members of all clans here. Where they the last to arrive? Easternsky didn’t mind being tardy, but how late was she? Quickly, Easternsky picked up the pace and went to join her fellow deputies, and soon to be, leaders…

The large ginger apprentice followed behind Miragepaw, entering seeming bored already. With a sigh the apprentice glanced around, spying a few warriors and apprentices milling about. Finding a secluded bush he plopped himself down, letting his blue gaze continue to glance around the clearing aiming to determine if anyone was worth speak with. So far... no.
Emitting a sigh Seapaw was pleased Scarredstar had chosen him, but at the same time annoyed. He could be sleeping, and that meant training. Shriekingvoice was going to be annoyed he was late, but he had to follow his leaders command. Lowering his head, he crossed his forepaws as his muzzle rested over them, closing his blue gaze. Ears remained pricked forth, awaiting some command from the leaders, perhaps he would open his eyes or he might simply keep them closed and listen.
While his eyes were closed the tom imagined himself up there beside the other leaders, addressing his clan and seeing the respect they gave him. He could taste it, all he needed was to become a warrior first, then he could move onto the next step. Deputy, then leader. But he would gain it the right way, he did not want to have too much blood on his paws.

A silver tabby padded through the cats of the mighty clan. She could sense all the clan and she relaxed. Hopefully this gathering brings on no trouble last thing the clans need was trouble. She turned her gentle blue orbs onto her clanmate, Lizardtail."Darn this cold air! My joints ache and I'm not even an elder yet."
Silversoul being the Aspenclan med cat, padded over to Lizardtail. She looked around for Sandpaw. She couldn't spot him at the moment. She rolled her eyes. The normally calm she-cat was now easily frustrated by her new pprentice. Why Starclan gave her a apprentice who could care less about healing, who knew, but knew he'd be great and deep down so did Silversoul.
"Lizardtail, the moment we get back to camp I can make an oriment for those joints of yours and some poppyseeds to sleep through the pain,"Silversoul mewed as she looked over the senior warrior for any serious problems,"I'd find the herbs before the Gathering, but with Leaf-bare just ending not all the herbs I need are bloomed."

Follow me there, stay at a distance. He said coldly, blue eyes shined in the moonlight as he stared at the red body creature. A cold smile covered his white face as a cool wind blew through his thick, medium long fur a deceiving plan entered his thoughts, as he saw the upcoming gathering foreshadowing in his mind.
*** He lead his cats towards the gathering, Iceclaw's tail rose over his white back, as he was deputy of Soulclan. Lavastar was ill, so Iceclaw was going to take Lavastar's place. Smiling, it all worked out well. His plan was falling in place, and all because of Silverclaw. It's for you, Silverclaw! He purred in his mind, thinking about the silver she-cat. She smiled, as his three kits pictured in his mind. He loved them, but this was something that he had to do, whether or not it was Warrior code worthy, besides Iceclaw didn't believe in it anyways- so why would be care if it was Warrior code worthy? He was making it up Silverclaw, and this was the only way he knew how to.Walking up to the gathering, Iceclaw stopped cold in his tracks as he looked around.
Iceclaw walked up the place where Leaders spoke, though he was not the leader of Soulclan, Lavastar was sick, and thus was the reason why he was here. Clearing his voice, Iceclaw stepped up, puffing out his chest and raising his head. Blue eyes glistened in the moonlight, as he spoke. "Fellow clans, Soulclan has gone through a lot sense the last gathering. Lavastar, is ill, but she'll be here for the next meeting, which is why, I am here. We have two new kits, Rainkit and Mosskit, from Silverclaw, which she died on Soulclan territory bearing her kits. We are raising the kits with respect of their dead mother. Our apprentices are strong and in training and soon a lot of them will be warriors. As far as that, nothing really has been going on. Iceclaw spoke with pride for his clan, as he nodded the white tom stepped down, for the next leader to speak.

He dragged his paws through the muddy earth. When Scarredstar had called his name to proceed to the Gathering, he had been absolutely delighted, his eyes had lit up and all he could think about was the fact that he, Sandpaw, just apprenticed, had been chosen to represent his clan, something he had wanted to do since he was a mere kit, still in milking. Keh, but he was being naive, of course, he had forgotten the fact that he was supposed to go, because it was his duty as a stinkin' medicine cat apprentice. He folded his ears flat against his head and glared at the faint bulbs of light in the sky, his ancestors, StarClan. It was all their fault for him having to have been chosen to become Silversoul's apprentice, they probably just did it to punish him for going out of the nursery when he was a kit! If there is any StarClan anyway that's right, it could've just been that Silversoul hated him, everyone did, and that they had made up this stupid StarClan as an excuse for their mistake. Ha! StarClan, keh, just a tail for kits...right?
He shook his head and stared up at the stars again. But if that is true, what was....that? He sighed, it was too confusing, if StarClan didn't exist, what about the sign? Was that real, or just a dream, a figure of his imagination? Urg, he shook his head wildly, what did it mean? Why did he get it, and not Silversoul? Or did Silversoul get another one. Oh don't tell me this is just a sign to tell me that this really is my future, because it's not! I can choose my own future can't I?! No. He couldn't, according to Silversoul this was his 'destiny'. He wanted to yowl out then and there that it wasn't fair, but if this really was a real sign....
Flame......
will destroy the peace,
Flame? What Flame? Did he mean Flame as in a warrior's name? Sandpaw had heard of Flameclaw, but he was a pretty mild cat, and he heard tales from other warriors how charming he was and "what a helpful cat he was, despite his being in FrostClan" so that wouldn't make much sense. There was another one two. Flamepaw, also of FrostClan. He hadn't heard much about that tom but only knew that he was a good few moons older than himself. And then that next part:
and clouds....
will hide the light.
That was it, that was all he got. Sheesh, at least send a worthy sign, or an easy one to decipher; but, no. All he got was this stupid one. Why couldn't he get something easier? He closed his eyes and imagined the warrior before him, spitting all of the insults he could muster up to him. Dirty, Rotten Crowfood. Mousebrain! He dug his claws into the earth, but quickly pulled them out to catch up with his clanmates, as he didn't want to get left behind. Somehow, he felt as if some blood were going to be shed tonight, he didn't know how, it was just a feeling. And the ominous Foretelling that loomed in his mind wasn't much of a comfort for the poor sand-coloured tom.
He arrived in the clearing not long after, his fur speckled with bits of dust, though one couldn't notice for it blended it well with his fur. His eyes narrowed as he went to sit by Silversoul, obviously, medicine cats couldn't sit where they wanted. He scoffed a bit at the gathering crowd, and want to sit by a pretty tabby she-cat, whom he also assumed to be a medicine cat. She looked to be as miserable as him, but he could hardly think it to be the same reason. He stared at her for a moment, noticing her pretty green eyes, but something told him that she wouldn't take kindly to admiration at the moment. So he sat there, hunched next to her. It felt like moons passed as his clanmates and others filed into the clearing. And his pelt itched to strike up a conversation as many of the other cats were doing.
Um.....so, you're the medicine cat apprentice of SoulClan, right? It was about as much as he could think to say, and he could only hope that she would be at least the least bit willing to talk --but then again, Sandpaw wasn't known for his luck.

Scarredstar stood up to speak next. He felt a tremor of anxiety go down his frame as he looked down on the chosen cats of the four Clans, their luminous eyes upon him...he saw a few apprentices and even some warriors flinch in shock at the sight of his mangled face. He felt ashamed somehow of the wounds he couldn't control, but he calmed himself. It mattered not.
"AspenClan has also been through some hardships," he meowed. It startled him how strong and confident his voice sounded. "We unfortunately lost both Icestar and Creektwist in one blow. However, StarClan has chosen me, Scarredstar, as the new leader of AspenClan. We also have a new deputy, Strickenflame, and we hope to serve our Clan well for many moons to come."
"Despite the troubles, AspenClan has thrived. Prey is bountiful this newleaf, and we have many apprentices, some very close to being warriors." His single blue gaze swept over the cats below. "That is all."
He stepped back and sat down, tail curled around his paws.
