She secretly longs for a companion, but the rational sector of her mind forbids anything against the law of the Cult, and the law of the Cult states that she is Ra, and must keep at it, meaning she will never have time to settle down. She keeps her distance from the Anubis and Anubis Khe; she believes that she can literally smell the reek of death and darkness on them. She is never fighting, but always searching the sun and the sky for signs of the fight, and tries to give them the information she seeks to assist them in their wars. She personally hates wars, but if they are for the good of the Cult, she will oblige. She worships and respects her Pharaoh, and his law is almost always what she follows, unless told by the gods otherwise. And since the Pharaoh is the son of the gods, she believes that his word is always hers as well, and follows him no matter what. If caught outside dreamland in the dark, she will close her eyes; they are useless to her then; and try to use her other senses to pick up a seeing cat that can lead her home. She stays far away from Clan cats, what with their odd style of code and fighting, and sticks by her Pharaoh's side-or as close to his side as she can get. Ra is the one who receives most of her prayers, though she will often pray for other gods if a specific part of the Cult needs their help. She has a great sense of humor and likes to laugh; believing that laughter is the secret language of the gods. She opened her eyes after a full week of hiding from the world, when finally, on one of the few trips her father had canceled to be with her, he forced them open. It was dark. Nothing seemed to show up in her sense of sight, even when lit by the bright moon. Tau had felt blind then, helpless, and incredibly lonely. She squeaked to her mother to complain, but her mother was nowhere to be seen. Her father gruffly told her that he was Ra, and since her brother Bak’tul didn’t live through birth, she was heir to Ra. When told this and explained what a Ra was and did, Tau ran blindly away from her father, not wanting to be excluded from the other, sight able cats. She rammed into a cat and fell back to the floor, wailing ‘I don’t want to be alone.’ Four months later, long after this incident, Tau, her eyes steeled from Romulus’s teachings, she was ready to become his Khe. She received the ceremonial markings, but none in her family looked surprised or even happy. Her mother was looking off into an invisible distance, her father staring at her with a stone cold expression. Tau realized she had accepted this life of blindness and loneliness when she had been born, and began training. Her father taught everything worth teaching except the tiniest details, and anything she asked about. ‘Figure it out on your own.’ He kept saying. ‘It is a Ra’s duty to do so.’ Tau pointed out once that the Ra’s duty was to interpret prophecies from the god they were named for, but was effectively shut up with a question about how to do so from Romulus. When she felt like she might be learning enough, and was prepared to go on this learning journey her father had assigned her, her mother fell ill to an infection that had caused her blindness and distantness of the mind. Though the Sekh was a powerful healer, the infection could not be halted, and two days past, she was but a dead carcass wrapped in evergreen, being carried off by the Anubis. Her father snapped at her whenever she cried about it, and Tau decided to shut her mouth unless someone said not to, and never speak out of turn. Her father was appreciative of this, though he never showed it. Soon, Romulus grew old, his fur graying, and it was time for the quiet and lonely Tau to receive her rank. The scar, whose meaning she had sought out and hidden far away in her memory banks, was inscribed on her forehead, and she became Ra Tau.
