Why do you shun me for who I am?
FOR I AM BIRCHPAW of the great AshClan
Age eleven moons. Gender male. Rank apprentice.
How can I hide in the shadows of the unknown?
WHEN MY PELT IS ORANGE and my eyes are lime
Scars none~ Appearance For the seemingly crazy cat who believes he's a curse to everyone around him, Birchpaw is actually a very handsome tom. Normally the nutcases are scraggly, bone-thin hunchbacks with greasy hair that sticks in all directions, right? Well, get ready to kiss that stereotype goodbye, ladies and gentlemen. This AshClanner is really quite a looker. His fur is neat and smooth, seeing that he grooms it every day, twice a day. Even though he's afraid that getting close to cats will kill them, he can't restrain the emotions he feels to the beautiful she-cats in his Clan, and he tries desperately to win them over. Thus, he doesn't want to look like a drooling freak. No, his medium-length fur is silky and soft, not a burr or bug in sight. As for his frame, he has a very slight build, but that doesn't mean he looks feminine or small. Birchpaw is a very tall, gangly cat, almost the height of a full-grown warrior. His ears are somewhat larger than the average cat's, and his eyes are the shape of almonds.
This tom's fur is very vibrant. Bright, vivid tangerine orange engulfs his lanky figure. He has a very hard time hiding with this, even in the fall (don't even get me started on winter). Splashes of pure snowy white take their territory starting at his pink nose and reaching all the way to the area between his forelegs. The white can also be spotted on all of his paws except the hind-left one. The white on his fore-right reaches up to his elbow. His optics are a stunning yellow-green, contrasting from his pelt.
And there you have it. Birchpaw.
Why do you judge me for what I’ll become? JUST BECAUSE I’M LONELY AND INSANE
Personality As mentioned earlier, Birchpaw is a bit of a nutcase; he thinks he's cursed. Yep, that's right. He thinks he's cursed and he's not even old enough to be a crazy elder yet. This is one of the most prominent features of his personality, and, quite sadly, the very reason that the multiple she-cats he asks out reject him the moment he starts the whole "Heeeyyy..." thing. If it weren't for his insanity, he'd probably have them all kissing at his feet with his handsome looks and otherwise charming personality. Alas, such is not the case. Every time he's gotten close to a cat, they've died right before his eyes, so he's been lead to think he's bad luck.
So, yes, if he didn't think he was a curse, he could pretty much have any girl he wanted. Birchpaw is a truly loving and caring tomcat. Protective and loyal to the end, he makes the best friend a cat could have. But that's just it. He has no friends. He's become a lonely, dejected feline with no one to love. His days are spent alone in the hills surrounding AshClan talking to himself. He's a very daring cat. If someone were to walk by while he was alone, they'd think he's crazier than he already is. He enjoys performing dangerous little stunts, such as poking at occupied fox holes and running out on the Thunderpath right before a monster comes, then running back as fast as possible and watching it swerve. For some unknown reason, he hates Twolegs with a passion. No one really knows why, not even he himself.
Preferences LIKES;; she-cats, daring himself, wind. DISLIKES;; his curse, his loneliness, rain. Secret Ambitions to injure a Twoleg (but not to kill them), to find a way to rid himself of his supposed "curse" Strengths/Weaknesses STRENGTHS;; quick runner, kind, handsome. WEAKNESSES;; hopeless romantic, insane, sometimes acts before thinking.
How am I punished for what my kin has done?
EVEN IF MY PARENTS ARE HALOWING AND OAKFALL
Family PARENTS;; halowing & oakfall. BROTHERS;; frenzicpaw & jaypaw. Event that Lead to being a Warrior n/a History There was Halowing, the mother, and Oakfall, the father, lovers since early in apprenticeship. They lived on to happily have kits in their warriorhood, loving them and treating them well. There were three, all males: Jaykit, Frenzickit, and Birchkit. They were happy young children with happy, caring parents. Life was good, life was normal, life was without a worry at all.
Of course, if their lives were perfectly happy and carefree, this would be a boring story. It wasn't long before everything started going downhill.
When the kits were four moons old, Oakfall caught greencough. It was a moon later when Birchkit was visiting him alone that he died. Jaykit blamed him. This was the seed of what he believes to be his curse.
They received mentors at the normal age of six moons, Jaypaw still hostile towards his brother. Birchpaw was out taking a stroll with his mother and Frenzicpaw one day (Jaypaw refused to do anything with Birchpaw) when it started raining. They immediately sought shelter in a nearby fox den, not realizing that it was occupied. They heard Frenzicpaw scream before turning around to see him being dragged a away, kicking and crying. He was never seen again. Birchpaw backed out of the den as fast as possible, but Halowing went in to save her baby. The tom raced in after her, screaming that it was too late. She refused to listen, instead crawling in farther and battling against the foxes to avenge her now-dead son. It was one on three; she was killed within a minute. Birchpaw fled, sobbing uncontrollably all the way.
Jaypaw went out to find his family, intending to apologize for how he'd been acting towards his brother. Birchpaw ran into him on the way home, explaining between hiccupy sobs what had happened. His brother was infuriated, blaming it on his innocent brother once more. He lunged, they fought. Birchpaw lost all sense of who he was battling, biting his brother's neck and killing him. He watched in shock as his brother hissed his last breath. "You traitor, you terrible cat..."
Birchpaw brought his brother back to camp, in tears once more, claiming he'd been killed by a fox like his mother and Frenzicpaw. He didn't want the Clan to know what he'd done, no matter how guilty he felt. It had been an accident, and he loved the Clan... He was beginning to become more sure of his curse the more he thought about it. It was too much for him to handle. At this point he was about eight moons old. He was beginning to fall for a beautiful she-cat named Dahliapaw. She was cute, sweet, and not as pompous or flirty as some of the other she-cats were. Turned out she loved him back. She'd brush her tail-tip over his shoulder, caress his face gently. It wasn't long before they fessed up to each other, deeply in love. Everyone knew it, too. They were a cute little couple, hunting together, playing together, walking together.
Pantherheart was Birchpaw's mentor. She knew how he felt about Dahliapaw and invited her and her mentor to train with them. As you can imagine, it didn't end well. All of them except for him were killed when an ambush of rogues attacked. He kissed his love good-bye as she breathed her last breath. He stayed at the site for the rest of the day until a search party went out to find them. When they did, Birchpaw was sobbing silently beside Dahliapaw's broken, bloodied body, whispering how he loved her, no matter what. And then he knew it. The was no doubt that he was a curse to all he loved and cared for.
Now he's become a lonely, heartbroken tom, depressed at too far early of an age. Dahliapaw has been pushed out of his mind, however painful it was to do. The memory was more painful than anything could ever be...
Sample RP A sample of my dear birchie on the site i originally made him on.
He'd walked aimlessly through the BrightClan territories, headed for the SerenityClan border with a smirk on his face. His destination was intentional - Birchpaw was daring himself again. Trespassing was one of his favorite feats. It wasn't as dangerous as his little Thunderpath stunts, toying with the warrior code was just as amusing. He'd actually seen the CloudClan camp before, but he came extremely close to getting caught. The last thing he heard was a cat saying, "Hey, do I smell BrightClan?" It had been hilarious, but he didn't want to risk getting caught. On instinct, he immediately shot back towards home, snickering with glee. Of course, at the next Gathering, the cats who went had mentioned something about the CloudClanners giving them suspicious looks. A few of the BrightClanners glanced narrow-eyed at him, but he'd never actually been confronted by one.
So here he was, pushing himself to cross the SerenityClan border. He figured he'd get caught by a patrol like he had the - how many had it been, four ar five? - times that he'd been out before (besides the previously mentioned incident). He figured next time he'd go over the MoonClan border, that oughta be fun - hey, did he smell SerenityClan? The scent hit his nose as he began the tiresome trek over the Rolling Hills. He wasn't that close to SerenityClan yet... And then he saw her. A pretty little tortoiseshell, probably about a moon or two younger than him, on the hill he was about to walk up. She looked terribly worried and afraid. His stunning green eyes softened. She was so beautiful... No. His conscience slapped him across the face. His curse... And Dahliapaw... No, the memory, it was coming, coming back...
He fought furiously to fight it away. Birchpaw felt his heart beating faster. She was so pretty, looked so fragile, and... No, no. She looked just like her, just like Dahliapaw, except she had a longer muzzle, and as her got closer, he could see that her eyes were a warm brown instead of his lost love's glittering blue. His conscience reminded him of his curse once again. How could he dare hurt such a fragile, beautiful creature by loving her? And yet he couldn't resist her, he couldn't resist the feeling he felt rising in his chest whenever he saw a pretty girl on their own, like Dahliapaw had been. Biting his lip, he went against his better judgement. A frigid wind whipped at him, stinging his flank, but he couldn't stop. Besides, how could he just leave her lost and confused like this? Birchpaw gave into the temptation, bounding up to her. "Hey, are you alright?" he murmured as he neared, the wind dying so his voice could be heard. "Are you lost? Can I help you get back home?" And yet he didn't really want to take her back home. He wanted her to stay, so they could talk awhile. He glanced up to the sky. Dahliapaw...
Would she be angry with him?
You call me by the name I’ve lied I meet in secret with those who’ve died Though life is not’ but treachery This life is all the life in me

Accepted! Also, you do know that someone else already has an apprentice called Birchpaw? It's okay to have that happen, just letting you know to prevent any later confusion. Don't have to change that either. In fact, it'd be pretty interesting to see the two Birchpaws RP with each other!
