Why do you shun me for who I am?
FOR I AM Hawkeye of the great AspenClan
Age 28 moons Gender Tomcat Rank Warrior
How can I hide in the shadows of the unknown?
WHEN MY PELT IS tortoiseshell and my eyes are yellow and green
Scars He has an array of negligible not-quite-healed scratches from fighting and hunting and a tiny tear in his left ear, but is otherwise ordinary. Appearance Hawkeye is a slimmer-built cat than what one would expect from a warrior. Average in size, he isn’t lacking the muscle to take down his prey or his enemy – but what he has isn’t suited for great feats of strength or battle heroics. In fact, at a passing glance, he is very nondescript. His tortoise-shell coat, primarily brown and black, camouflage him sufficiently in most environments. At a closer look, however – a closer look he doesn’t allow too many to get – one could notice some very obvious distinctions. There are six small splashes of white along his coat: one (the smallest) in the corner of his eye, one on his mouth, two on his neck, and two on his chest. His ear has a small tear, a souvenir of a fight lost to his father. But his most defining physical characteristic is the fact that he is odd-eyed: his right eye is amber-yellow, and his left – a peculiar shade of green.
Why do you judge me for what I’ll become? JUST BECAUSE I’M private AND cunning
Personality Among those he considers friends, Hawkeye can be social and forthright. Unfortunately, he feels little kinship towards others until they’ve earned his trust and respect, neither of which come easy to him. He knows how deceptive bonds between cats can be, and just how capable others are of betrayal. For him, you are guilty until proven innocent when it comes to matters of moral integrity. Despite this dark outlook on the hearts of others, he is not unfriendly. Private, solitary, and reserved, Hawkeyed is nonetheless loyal and kind-hearted. Due to his guarded nature, however, not a lot have had a chance to see his capacity for empathy and compassion. Sometimes he wishes that would change, but getting emotionally close to others is a bit tough for him. Hawkeye tends to be very observant and very aware of his surroundings, and often comes off as being cold and calculating from the way he reasons and speaks. He accepts whatever situation he finds himself in, but believes that when he (or someone else) can’t find a solution or a way out, he isn’t trying hard enough, or doesn’t deserve it. Regardless, when he is a part of a clan, or any group, he is loyal and gladly performs any duties he is given. Preferences <3: being left alone when he's tired, kits, those with good sense of justice and moral integrity, successful hunts </3: complaining, spending too much time with others, abuse of power Secret Ambitions Secretly, he wants to prove that he isn't "damaged goods" and is capable of being a good companion and one day -- although he would never admit it, even to himself -- father. Strengths/Weaknesses Silent and sneaky, he can get around unseen and unheard, stalking his target with ease, and efficiently striking without warning. He can deal very punishing damage when he has the element of surprise, but has a difficult time facing an enemy directly. For him, battles are decided fast, because the only was he has the upper hand is if he takes down his enemy quickly. Not the strongest of cats, the longer a fight goes on, the more likely he is to lose. A stocky cat would only have to defend themselves for a short time before Hawkeye would lose the upper hand.
How am I punished for what my kin has done?
EVEN IF MY PARENTS ARE Treesong AND Winterclaw
Family Hawkeye has two sisters he doesn't remember well. Treesong, his mother, was a runaway kittypet that came into Aspenclan. Winterclaw, the father, was a warrior. Event that Lead to being a Warrior influence from father and clan, can't see himself doing anything else History Hawkeye’s mother, Treesong, was a kittypet before becoming one of AspenClan. The father, Winterclaw, was born in SoulClan (it is unclear to Hawkeye how he ended up in AspenClan). The pair had 3 kits, two of them girls, who he didn’t spend a lot of time with, and doesn’t remember very well. Shortly after becoming apprentices, the three kits were urged and encouraged to become distinguished warriors and hunters in the clan. Winterclaw, ambitious and prideful, put more pressure on them than they could handle, and they frequently argued (as discreetly as they could). Sick of feeling like they would never contribute anything to the clan and would never amount to anything, the two sisters ran away from their father and were captured by twolegs. Treesong, heartbroken, left after them. Winterclaw saw this as humiliating to himself: two kits that couldn’t handle what he thought was “a little pressure”, their mother – once a kittypet and now a “traitor” to the clan, and Hawkeye, a non-extraordinary legacy. Once Hawkeye could more or less hold his own, one post-argument “training fight” got out of hand, and resulted in Winterclaw abandoning the clan, and his son, as well. Sample RP Bump-bump. Bump-bump. Bump-bump. Hawkeye breathed evenly, and felt the pounding in his chest become a steady rhythm after the last adrenaline-fueled hour of slithering along the ground and sprinting from cover to cover. Now he felt encouraged, like he was in his element. Leading him along this twisting path was a rabbit. Normally, Hawkeye wouldn’t be out hunting a rabbit on his own, but this rabbit wasn’t large. In fact, it couldn’t have been older than Hawkeye was. He almost felt sympathy for the innocent creature. No doubt it was parentless, like him, or it wouldn’t have skipped all the food sources along the way to this small clearing… And maybe it wouldn’t have ignored the obvious cat scent, and wandered almost right into the spot Hawkeyed liked to relax in. Almost thrown off by this train of thought, Hawkeye rearranged himself in the tangle of branches that currently obscured him from sight. He isn’t parentless, helpless, or untrained. Blood seemed to flow hotter through him, he felt a small gush of anger rise within him, accompanying the self-pity as it always did. “I’m nothing like you.” The thought, directed at the rabbit, didn’t need to be voiced. Suddenly, surprising even himself, Hawkeye shot forward from under the bush with a force unexpected for someone his size. Hitting the rabbit square in the shoulder, Hawkeye just barely had time to sink his claws into the skin of his prey, before the momentum carried them both into a roll. Gripping the rabbit tightly with his teeth and front paws, he kicked with his hind legs, hard and fast, until he felt his prey release control of its body. Blood pooled into a small puddle underneath the torn stomach. It took a few seconds for Hawkeye to recover from the rush of it all; when he finally freed the rabbit from his clutch, he stared at the mess he made. Silently again, he gave thanks and sought forgiveness for the opportunity, the hunt, the kill. Funny how that happens – the worst day of the rabbit’s life, but neither he nor his clan would complain about this. Dragging his kill back to camp, he felt a sense of accomplishment, and the freedom of not having to prove or justify it to anyone else. At least, not until tomorrow’s hunt.
You call me by the name I’ve lied I meet in secret with those who’ve died Though life is not’ but treachery This life is all the life in me
