Thoughts clouded Maplepaw's mind for only the moment. The stars had seemed so distant the night before, almost as if they were purposely drifting away from the earth ashamed of how the twolegs were treating it. Running through the forest, eyes focused on the red earth below and claws gripping the soil between her pads. She loved this feeling and saw no reason to the torture twolegs have been inflicting on the environment and what made life so beautiful. The sun shone down, beating restlessly on her long pelt keeping all of the humidity and dew sitting on her pelt. Maplepaw had earlier been sleeping in the apprentices den only to wake up and find a slick vail of misty dew sprinkled and radiating on her flank. In a way she was happy because until the sun melts such liquid Maplepaw would be kept cool from the beating sun. Today was a rare sight. At least the morning seemed to be. Lately the mornings had been warmer and rain clouds the sun about mid day. Yet today she had a hint that the sun might make a longer appearance."Today is so perfect to climb, or at least to scout for prey. Seeing as how the fresh kill pile has been weaker from the rain it's obvious this morning would bring a good donation to the pile." Maplepaw thought still bounding towards the perfect tree with a perfect view. Strides got bigger as a great oak came closer into view, her senses brightened and she unsheathed her claws preparing to catch the bark of the tree. The tree was tall and towered her in length, way more then 5 fox lengths and high enough to see the forest floor at a hunters level. Long balanced tail wipping behind her carried her to the post of a branch she needed. It was the best she had seen in awhile, the branch was thick and sturdy but stretched out far our from the rest of the branches. This gave her more edge to see prey scurrying about below. If a bird came along she was close enough to leap from branches in order to sink her fangs into the flesh of what would feed her lust for loyalty and the bellies of her clan. A spring breeze then caught her coat whisping the dusty strands in the wind. Maplepaw embraced it and peered below waiting for the next movement which would lead to her victorious hunt. Still thoughts lingered. She was wondering how her family was and why she hadn't made the effort to make contact. She seemed so distant from everyone lately and it wasn't her. Maplepaw had always been known to hide out in groups, she always hated being alone. For some reason becoming a apprentice had pulled her independence up and she wasn't necessarily enjoying it.

His paws soft against the earth, Cedarpaw slipped through the clear, quiet morning with ease. His whiskers flickered as he slipped through the undergrowth. Light, rusty tabby fur glittered in the soft sunlight as he stretched, letting out a heavy yawn. His claws dug into the ground before him and he stiffened, lifting his paw and examining his ivory claws. "These claws have cost me so much." He whispered. His blue-grey eyes narrowed and he shook his head furiously. "No, it was the stupid power that cost me so much." He growled.
He pressed onward, ignoring the thoughts that tried spinning through his mind. As Cedarpaw padded forward, he heard a flicker of noise above him and caught the scent of another cat. Immediately his muscles tensed, and only relaxed when he recognized Maplepaw's scent. He drew up an image of the she-cat in his mind, remembering her soft, dusty colored fur, gorgeous green eyes... She was a pretty she-cat, and kind and adventurous, and he'd always admired her- from afar. He fought the urge to turn and head back to camp- it couldn't hurt, just talking to her. He blinked as the image of her grew stronger in his mind and he struggled to shove off the sudden knowledge, but it overwhelmed him.
Through his mind's eye, he could feel her horrors at being stuck in a den for weeks, being told what to do and when to do it. She would be terrified to be alone, and it was disturbing her to be alone, to be distant.
He shut his eyes tightly and lunged forward, trying in a desperate attempt to escape his power. Of course, running with your eyes closed isn't very smart. Especially if you're in a forest. Especially when a forest has many trees.
He slammed headfirst into the trunk of the tree that Maplepaw was sitting in. Reeling backwards, he stumbled and flopped onto his side, dizzy and dazed. After a few moments he stood up, shaking the dust from his fur and looking up. He could see the glimmering dusty golden fur that belonged to Maplepaw. Sighing, he leaped up, his claws hooking into the bark. He bounded up the tree easily. At least I'm good at something, He thought. Climbing is alright, but if only I could let myself have good friends....
Cedarpaw leapt out onto the branch above Maplepaw, digging his claws into it and swinging himself over the side, dangling upside down above her.
"Well, hello there." He mewed, his blue/green eyes glittering. "It's odd, seeing you out here alone. Aren't you usually with your friends?" His ears suddenly burned and he shut his eyes tightly. His stupid power... he just couldn't control his mouth anymore. He tried to convince himself it was an innocent question, but the reasons behind it were.... quite absurd. "Uh, sorry if that's.... imposing. You don't have to answer that." He mewed quickly, blinking and, for a moment, getting caught up in her gaze. He shook his head suddenly, trying to focus.
Shaking your head when you're upside down from a tree branch isn't a very good idea, either. His paws slipped and he very nearly fell, except for the fact that he managed to dig his claws into the branch that Maplepaw was perched on, and hauled himself back up. "Um. Sorry." He mumbled. "I, uh, slipped...." He shut his mouth, ears burning in embarrassment. He really needed to work on.... no, no, his talking skills were fine. But something about talking to Maplepaw made his heart beat faster and his tongue tie itself in knots. He knew why, but he tried not to admit it. If he dared admit it, then it could wreck everything. Isolation was his only friend now.
But isolation was an awful friend. And isolation was very lonely.
He wanted a real friend.
But he couldn't bring himself to trust anyone, to open himself up.

She let out a small queit chuckle as it seems two of her other clanmate, that too indeed were apprentice like her, were here. She sat pack in the undergrowth and watched the two other apprentices carefully. She chuckled queity as Cedarpaw drew closer to Maplepaw. Was it just her, or was that tom paws over head for the she-cat. She shrugged. Every cat had there crushes. She personially really didn't have one yet. She wasn't bothered by that. She had her attuide problems and she was still young. She let out a shrug again.
She turned her green orbs to a rustling in the undergrowth. She had been hunting all morning and really didn't go after the prey, but she did. The clan needed it and it would hopefully make her mentor happy. She had gonna on Lightingfoot bad side a couple days ago. She slowly crept forward and tried to keep balance as best as she could. She remembered what her mentor taught her. She keep her pale-green glaze to the mouse. She jumped at the mouse when she was a mouse length away. She turned her glaze to the other apprentice, just in time to see Cedarpaw slip, but not fall. She couldn't keep this chuckle queit. She let out a roar of laughter. She grabbed the vole and headed towards the two and looked up at the other two apprentices.
"Hey Maplepaw, Cedarpaw, and Cedarpaw your not suppose to fall out of the tree!"Hollypaw smiled up at them. She sat at the base of the tree and looked up at the two apprentices. She wrapped her fluffy calico tail around her paws.
