"Dovepaw!" The tall tawny tom stuck his head into the Apprentice's Den, hissing the white she-cat's name softly, as so not to wake up the other apprentices that were sleeping. He stepped in slightly further and poked her shoulder, trying to avoid stepping on anyone. "Training! Come on!" He whispered, flitting back out of the den to wait for his apprentice.
Once she was up and out, he dipped his muzzle slightly in greeting. "We're going to the Acorn place today." He announced, leading the way out of camp at a brisk pace. As soon as he was free from the barriers, he took off running, his paws flying and barely touching the ground. He slowed after a few minutes, glancing behind him to see if Dovepaw had been able to keep up. His flanks moved lightly, his whiskers twitching and emerald gaze glittering in the light.
Dustwhisker slipped out to the Acorn Place, his paw softly padding against the soft ground beneath. He paused, rolling an old grey acorn beneath his paw as he listened for any signs of life. "Dovepaw," He mewed, turning to his apprentice. "Today, we'll work on hunting techniques. Tomorrow, we can patrol the borders." He decided. "First off, we'll start with a basic crouch." He slipped forward into an easy position, tucking all four paws beneath him, tkaing care that his belly didn't touch the ground, and that his tail was straight out and absolutely still. His ears were flat against his head, his eyes were narrowed, and his whiskers were flicked back, making him appear small and round.
"It's neccessary to be nice and small, Dovepaw, so that your prey doesn't notice you. If you were a mouse, you'd find it quite odd if you noticed a rock with ears and whiskers and eyes." He mewed, straightening up and flicking her ear playfully. "Make sure that you don't move your tail, either. Even the slightest flick could stir up leaves and make prey run back to their burrows." He stepped back, giving her space to try. "Go on, then. Your turn." He smiled, settling onto his haunches to wait for her to try the move.
