i'm always in this twilight
the stars, the moon, they've all been blown out

The sun shone down into the AspenClan camp clearing, bathing its cats in a warm golden glow. Everything seemed quite calm, serene, even. Some warriors were sunbathing outside the warriors' den, while others were just returning from hunting patrols, fresh-kill hanging from their jaws. A few apprentices enjoyed a rare day off, sparring playfully or napping under the sun. Scarredstar stood from atop the hollow log that served as his den, flicking his tail and walking over to the apprentices' den. He didn't much like interrupting such a nice day off, but Seapaw was very much behind on his training and he knew the large tom yearned to be a warrior. It was about time his training was caught up. "Seapaw," he called to the tom, and continued on towards the entrance of the camp, knowing the apprentice would follow. He briefly nodded a greeting to some of his warriors; Lizardtail, who was for once quiet under the warmth, Littlewhisker and Strickenflame chatting pleasantly, the androgynous Maplethorn...everyone was making the most of the contenting weather. He kept walking until he reached a small sandy clearing further into the forest near the Reflection Pool. He often found this place best for battle training, as the sand taught better footing and allowed for better observing of moves. Scarredstar turned around, facing the ginger tom. "We will practice battling techniques today," he said. "But first, sometimes more important than brute strength itself, is the ability to strategize." He began walking in a slow circle around Seapaw, scrutinizing him. "For example. You are large, and have much power. However, because of that, your agility and reaction speed is compromised. Knowing this, I would use darting, fast moves in order to overpower you, rather than using brute strength." He stopped in front of the tom, one eye narrowed. "Your turn. Strategize a fight with me. What approach would you take?" 316 WORDS , SEAPAW , ABOUT TIME I POSTED THIS. |
