Hollypaw- The Wonder A orange/red and black tortoiseshell lay back under a pine tree. She was waiting for Silverclaw. Either of these she-cats were clan born. She had formed a friendship bond with Silverclaw. Her pale-greens orbs watched out for her friend. The idea of being caught by her mentor or leader would be aweful. She bite her lip she didn't want to get in trouble, but what life without breaking a few rules. yet, at the same time, with her not being clanborn, makes cat watch her more carefully. Although she's never did anything for the clan to doubt her yet and hopefully never. Hollypaw let out a yawn and roll over to her side. She stretched out. She was really small for her size. She still looked like a kit, yet she was barely an apprentice. She still had a lot of training ahead of her. She also would never get much bigger, which is fine by her. Her enemies will never expect her to be a challenge, but just wait! Hollypaw began to look around for Silverclaw again. She began to taste the air to pick up on her friends scent. Her ear twitched as she waited.

Silverclaw darted about the camp, searching for a sign of the tortoiseshell apprentice whom she had promised to meet. Anxious amber eyes roamed the borders. Surely Hollypaw knew to wait for her inside the camp and not anywhere else? Then again perhaps not. Sneaking out of camp was something Silverclaw did a lot of as an apprentice, and Hollypaw was so much like her younger self. Resigned to the fact that she now had to search for Hollypaw out of the AspenClan camp, she opened her jaw and tasted the air for her scent.
Hollypaw’s distinct scent was strongest by the apprentices’ den, obviously. From the opening in the jutting rock, the silver she-cat followed the faint trail, her paws sliding over the grassy clearing quickly. As she meandered through the dense woods, low hanging branches smacked her flank and brambles clawed at her legs. Most of them she leaped over, but that dispelled the lingering scent of Hollypaw even more than what faint traces were left. Along the way, a few mice poked their way out from their labyrinth of holes, but she did not stop to catch any. That was not her purpose here, and the patrols could take care of catching prey. Silverclaw found that by each passing sunrise, her care for the Warrior’s Code had grown less and less; she had neglected it many times by now.
Her gait slowed none as time passed by. Pausing by the edge of a little creek that twisted its way from the Reflection Pool, she bathed herself, licking the cool drops of water. Soothed, she caught a thrush and gulped it down before picking up her pace. The maddeningly evasive tortoiseshell had evidently roamed around a lot; Silverclaw found herself running in circles occasionally. At last, she heaved herself up a tiny cliffy spot. Her lips twitched in anticipation as she recognized her location to be the Acorn Place, a very notable AspenClan hunting area. Perhaps she could gorge herself on squirrels; it had been moons since she had herself a scrumptious squirrel.
Now Hollypaw’s scent was strong. Wearily padding towards its source, she greeted the apprentice without much warmth. Sure they were ‘friends’, but Silverclaw preferred to label the smaller she-cat as an ‘ally’. She refused to admit that she had grown fond of the little cat, who looked no more than a kit. It made her feel… well, motherly, like it was someone she could care for. Managing the traces of a smile, she asked, “Would you like to do some hunting here? StarClan knows you could use a good meal.” Again, she smiled, though sadly. For in her deepest of hearts, Silverclaw knew there would come a time where she would claim her place in her rightful Clan. She might as well enjoy a moment like now.

Lightningfoot sniffed the air, looking for her small apprentice. Hollypaw's scent led from camp. Lighningfoot wound her way around to the apprentice's den, where the trail started, and she was surprised to find that Silverclaw had followed the trail as well. Lighningfoot followed swiftly.
The scent trail led through the AspenClan territory, heading for the Acorn Place. Lighningfoot sighed. Maybe Hollpaw was just hunting. But a niggling sensation at the back of her mind told her it was more than that.
To disguise herself, Lighningfoot rolled in a clump of aspen needles (leaves). She began winding up the weary trail again, and finally found both Silverclaw and Hollypaw. They were about to hunt, but Lightningfoot stayed hidden to find out what they were doing. She crept into a group of bushes and peered out to watch the young warrior and Lightningfoot's apprentice.
A bird called but the warrior ignored it. Hollypaw was up to something, she knew it.

Hollypaw- The Wonder Hollypaw jumped up as Silverclaw came over. She let out a purr of excitement. She noticed Silverclaw greeting wasn't very warm bu it didn't bother Hollypaw much. She gave her long pelt and shake to knock off the pine needles. She notice her pelt was gooey in spots, pine sap. She'd clean it off later.
Hollypaw looked up at Silverclaw. "Hunting sounds awesome! I did my training already so I won't be breaking the warriors code." She smiled up at Silverclaw. "Where will we go? Left maybe right? That way or this way?" Hollypaw chuckled.
Hollypaw stood still and pricked her ears. She was listening for prey. She began to taste the air and caught the scent of a mouse. She creep toward the prey , slowly. She was very well balanced. Yet, the prey got away, when Hollypaw stepped on a twig. She gave chase, but it still got away from the fast apprentice. The worse part was as it ran it gave a warning squeal.
"Oh mouse dung!" Hollypaw growled she stormed back to Silverclaw. "Well we will have to go somewhere else! I scared everything away from here!" She said bitterly.

By nature, Silverclaw was a rather unsmiling, almost formidable creature. She was never truly ‘happy’ or felt much love – mostly dislike or hate. Only her friend Hollypaw could shatter the barrier the Warrior usually placed between her and other cats. This was rare, as she typically warmed to other Clan cats rather than her own Clanmates. But then, Hollypaw was rare and exceptional herself. Or perhaps the tan apprentice merely reminded her of her former self. Whatever the reason, she let slip an amused smile at the apprentice’s bubbly words. Someone was enthusiastic at least.
“Warrior Code? What Warrior Code?” she half laughed, her amber eyes lit up with a sudden turn of mood. Her tail twitched with some delight as Hollypaw inquired of their destination. “I break that all the time.” Abruptly, her face creased into a frown. She lifted her nose and drank in the cool scents of squirrel, Hollypaw, and… something else. She investigated some nearby clumps of bracken but discovered nothing. She sniffed again. It was another AspenClan cat, of that she was certain. But who could it be. She turned to Hollypaw to tell her to be cautious, but she had already vanished. Somewhat alarmed, Silverclaw tracked the fresh scent of the apprentice farther into the woods.
A blur of pale amber leapt to meet the silvery she-cat as she stalked the apprentice’s scent. Hollypaw saw her and muttered something about mice. Ignoring the young cat’s words, Silverclaw cut in urgently, “Hollypaw, we must leave this place. There is… there is someone else following us.” Her voice was hushed and grave. She knew whomever it was would do them no harm, but why not reveal their presence? And besides, it wasn’t as if what the two cats were doing was right. They were about to trespass on SoulClan territory.
Silverclaw led the way, her silky tail spinning behind her as she streaked through the forest. She was like a silver blur in the night, her light paws darting over twigs and fallen leaves like a rabbit. She was spry and lithe at her young age, and hoped the apprentice could keep up. When she reached the place where her path converged with the main trail, she paused for breath. Her amber eyes peered ahead. Between the masses of foliage was a thick wooden line of fencing. Once they were over that obstacle, they would enter SoulClan land. Specifically, the fringes of the Dryland. Again, her eyes swiveled about, searching for the apprentice.

Hollypaw- The Wonder Hollypaw ear flickered. Breaking the warrior code? Had I heard Silverclaw right? Hollypaw though. She looked up at the cat who she saw as her friend and like a mother figure. She shook her head. Oh what would Lightingfoot think if she heard this and knowing I was going to listen to Silverclaw. She surely would skin her alive. She gave her head one more shake, but padding after Silverclaw. "Really? Why would they make the warrior code?" She asked out of curious more then sarcasm, but it was still linging in her voice. She got up onto her little paws and padded after Silverclaw. "Who or what is following us?" Hollypaw stopped at the border of Soulclan and Aspenclan. She looked behind her. She knew better, but she didn't want to disappoint her friend. She went through the undergrowth and ran after Silverclaw. She stood right next to Silverclaw on full alert. "What are we doing in Sulclan territory? If Lightingfoot catches me she will skin me alive, and you may not enjoy your pelt, but I like mine!" Hollypaw whispered hissed. She shook her head which she does a lot when she's worried or stressed. She looked up at Silverclaw. Was this worth the loyalty of her friend.

Lightningfoot raced after the she-cats, slipping silently through the forest, well trained in secrecy by being a loner. She stopped at the SoulClan border and growled as Hollypaw and Silverclaw raced over the border. She followed them, then took a shortcut so she was in front of them. She stopped right in their path. "Out. Of. SoulClan. Territory. NOW!" She growled, not wanting to attract the attention of a patrol. "Hollypaw. You are coming with me whether you like it or not. We have to talk to Icestar about your punishment." She growled deeper, her long sharp claws sliding in the earth. "And you Silverclaw." She added, her teeth bared. Fury raged through her, making her eyes blaze and she had to restrain herself from jumping on the AspenClan cats. "Out." She repeated. "NOW!" She pulled her claws out of the ground, letting them tense on the dirt ground. Her sharp teeth with pointed, ready to battle the two she-cats to get them out of SoulClan territory. Then she growled again, and chased Hollypaw and Silverclaw out, or tried to.

At last, the ginger apprentice caught up. She glanced about nervously and eyed the silver Warrior anxiously, it seemed. Silverclaw blinked at her encouragingly. Her stormy gray tail brushed Hollypaw’s flank, hoping to calm her down. Her gaze, however, was fixed upon the strange wooden sticks melded together to form the border with SoulClan. She poked a tentative paw at the stuff before turning to the apprentice. “Don’t worry, I’m here on Warrior business. I need to speak with one of the Warriors here,” she reassured her. Her amber eyes roved the length of the wooden barrier, wondering if it was worth it to streak around the obstruction. Finally, she flattened her body and slithered beneath the thing. Its coarse texture scraped at her coat, which was now entangled with splinters. When she had reached the other side, she shook out her ruffled pelt. She nodded at Hollypaw, hoping she wouldn’t have to coax her over.
A dark blur erupted from the shadowy forest, eyes the color of the sun gleaming. It bounded to the edge of the border and glared at the two cats. Silverclaw’s eyes flashed as she recognized the sooty coat of Lightningfoot. Her eyes narrowed at the other Warrior. Was this who was spying on them earlier? She thought she had sensed her presence. “Make me,” she snarled in reply, not caring how often she had repeated this cliché before. She was considering running off deeper into SoulClan territory anyways, if it weren’t for her concern for Hollypaw. A slight pang of guilt jabbed her side as she realized it would be her fault if Hollypaw got into trouble. “Leave Hollypaw alone. She didn’t know.”
Silverclaw’s darkened eyes lightened as she composed herself. She fixed a friendly expression on her face. In a silky voice, she meowed firmly, “I have business here, Lightningfoot. Would you kindly let me pas-“ But her words were cut off as the midnight black Warrior lunged at her, fangs bared. Silverclaw quickly retaliated with a swipe aimed nowhere in particular before careening off. She streaked deeper into SoulClan territory, whipping past the enormous Twoleg nest that marked the edge of the SoulClan camp. She veered past that and headed in the direction she knew the sun would be swallowed up in later.

Hollypaw- The Wonder Hollypaw calmed down a bit as she felt Silverclaws tail against her side. She trusted her and she wouldn't let anything happen to her. She let out a small purr. She padded after the warrior. When they made it to the to the wooden stick wall. She had no clue what it was. Twolegs were crazy. She shook her head and chuckled at how funny Silverclaw looked. She then easily walked over the wall. She was much smaller then the warrior. "What kind of-" she was cut off when she saw Lightingfoot. She eyes dropped and then her ears dropped in shame. She saw how angry her mentor was. She let out a small squeak. She let her tail fall. She was in some serious trouble. Hollypaw looked up at Silverclaw and gave a small smile. She knew what Silverclaw said wouldn't help that much. She padded over to her mentor with her tail dragging in the dirt. She turned just as the warrior lunged at Silverclaw and watched them run off. Something told Hollypaw to follow, but she knew Lightingfoot would never allow her. She tunred her head to Lightingfoot, waiting for her anger. She looked straight into her mentor eyes. She let out a small sigh and gave her sweet innocent look to Lightingfoot and hopefully she'd let her off easy. In all this was the first time she's ever been in trouble.

Lightningfoot growled deeply as Silverclaw ran off. Then she whipped around as Hollypaw gave her a sweet look. "Don't you DARE try that on me!" She growled. Then she picked up the small apprentice by the scruff and carried her back to camp where all the Clan cats were. "Icestar!" She called. She waited for the leader to come, still holding Hollypaw. Her eyes were narrowed in anger, and she looked ready to drop Hollypaw and attack her apprentice. She kept her claws sheathed as she waited for the leader to come deliver punishment. She growled again, holding the apprentice.
Finally, she dropped Hollypaw. “Stay here.” She growled. “Or you’ll get worse punishment.” She turned away, padding to Icestar’s den. “Icestar!” She called. She turned away. “She’s not her.” She said simply. Lightningfoot turned to her apprentice. “Why?” She asked simply. “Why did you follow Silverclaw, willingly break the warrior code by crossing into SoulClan territory?”
Her voice was gone of all anger. Curiousity burned in her eyes, and her voice was calm. “Was there something-“ She stopped talking suddenly. “Someone?” She asked. “Is there someone in SoulClan?” She asked quietly so the other cats would not overhear. “Hollypaw, I won’t hurt you. I’m not angry anymore.” Hollypaw’s mentor did not look mad, she was calm and ready for answers. “Why?” She asked again.

Silverclaw pelted towards the sun-up place – in other words the Sunrise Shores. Her paws lightly embraced the scruffy earth like butterflies momentarily pausing. Her legs pumped long strides as she streaked off, for she hoped to enter and exit her destination in time to prevent her apprentice friend from getting into serious trouble. A silver tail streaming behind her like a river current, she decelerated. Blood slammed against suddenly hesitant veins as her pace slowed to a trot. A few slick beads of sweat formed, which she quickly shook off. Her paws treaded lightly over uneven footing as she wound her way down to the shores of the ocean. Her cool amber gaze scanned the horizons, narrowing as a few splashes marred the otherwise blank slate of the sea. She leapt onto a slimy rock, her paws nearly slipping.
The dark she-cat settled herself onto her perch, her eyes holding a calculating expression. Her mind raced furiously. Nothing was going right for her. Lightningfoot had caught her trespassing on SoulClan territory and was presumably informing Icestar of this now. This usually meant exile unless her leader had approved her mission beforehand. Now why hadn’t she sought Icestar’s permission…?
Silverclaw nearly laughed out loud at this. Right, like Icestar would approve the murder of her own deputy. She did actually cackle softly to herself, until an enormous crash sounded from the sea. Her breath caught, she watched as a magnificent scaly creature emerged from its shadowy depths. It slithered closer before sinking back down. “Amazing…” she murmured, her eyes fastened. Her claws clicked on the rock as she swayed with anticipation. If she were going to be exiled soon, she may as well drag Creektwist down with her. With this pleasant thought in mind, she ran back to AspenClan territory.
It was very quiet back at camp. A few Warriors stalked around, chatting in hushed tones. Or perhaps her ears weren’t tuned in to the morning gossip. She had a more important mission to accomplish. She paced determinedly towards a pure black figure crouched over a ginger cat. Lightningfoot and Hollypaw. Just who she wanted to see. From afar, Silverclaw studied their reactions. The apprentice seemed frightened, but the Warrior seemed kindly and… was that desperation she saw in that gleaming golden gaze [oh noes alliteration]? Confused, she could barely focus on the scene before her. She approached warily and heard snatches of their conversation. At present, Lightningfoot seemed to be interrogating Hollypaw. “As I said before, she had nothing to do with all this. I asked her to go hunting and she agreed. I only wanted to complete a little task along the way, that’s all,” she interrupted firmly, glaring at the shadowy pelt of her fellow Clanmate.

Lightningfoot turned to Silverclaw and growled. "Why?" She said sarcastically. "Did you take her into SoulClan territory? She knows better, so she will be punished." She turned away, her eyes blazing. "And," She said, her teeth bared. "I was talking to Hollypaw. NOT you, Miss I-can-do-anything-I-want-to."
Lightningfoot turned away, and looked at Hollypaw, not willing to continue their one-sided conversation with Silverclaw there. "Go away." She said calmly, still looking at Hollypaw. Her black fur bristled angrily, but her eyes were as calm as smooth water. "Silverclaw. GO AWAY. Hollypaw is my apprentice; I will decide what to do with her. Now leave, or get clawed." Her tail flicked from side to side, but calmed herself and turned her head to stare at Silverclaw.
She looked calmly at Silverclaw, but her eyes were blazing, though hiding behind her calm. She said softly, but with deadly meaning. "Traitor." She turned away when she heard Silverclaw gasp, but she knew Hollypaw did not hear her judging words, so it did not matter. “Cats who obeyed the warrior code would not take apprentice into other Clans territory, mission or not. IF you were on a mission I would have been informed.” She smiled. “I know I would have been informed, so it is useless to lie to me.” She looked back at Hollypaw. “Traitor.” She whispered again.
OOC; no problem. Weedpaw, come!

Hollypaw tumbled to the ground as her mentor dropped her. She pushed herself onto her paws. She bowed her head in shame. She had angered her mentor greatly. She sighed. Then, turned her green glaze to Lightingfoot. "I'm sorry, Lightingfoot. I was just going hunting like you told me, I know I shouldn't be going into Soulclan territory. Of course there no cat. I'm loyal to my clan, plus I'm barely an apprentice I don't need a Tom. I promise to never leave Aspenclan territory." She turned her glaze to Silverclaw she didn't want her to get in trouble. "Lightingfoot be nice to Silverclaw. She most likely had a good reason for going into Soulclan territory. She's going to report to IcestR, right, Silverclaw?"
She smiled at Silverclaw and then padded up to her mentor. She rubbed her muzzle against Lightingfoot shoulder. She looked up to both Silverclaw and Lightingfoot. It was painful to see the two cats fight.

The pure black Warrior released her grip on the ginger apprentice, who collapsed onto the camp’s floor like a helpless kit. She meekly rose to her paws and stared up at her mentor. Silverclaw’s heart twisted with guilt and shame that mirrored Hollypaw’s. She should’ve chosen a safer, more convenient time to complete her rendezvous in SoulClan. Now her sole friend in this cursed Clan was in deep trouble. But she could only stare sadly as the apprentice’s plea did not shatter the cold icy front Lightningfoot had put on.
Instead, her archenemy hissed and spat at her. The silver-tipped she-cat refused to flinch, and met the wild, amber glare of the other Warrior. Her claws flexed as if anticipating a fight, her tail whipping her flank. Her neck fur ruffled by unseen breezes as she bared pointed fangs. But this was all a feigned response. At heart, she was terrified it would come to a battle. Mentally, Silverclaw cursed herself for not properly learning battle tactics. She was a hunter by nature, and not accustomed to clawing another cat. Besides, her stormy gray pelt was already riddled with scars. She was not in the mood to collect more.
Silverclaw rationalized that it was best to leave immediately. Until Lightningfoot committed the mistake of labeling her a traitor. She spun around and nearly launched herself at the midnight black cat. Her paws were indeed poised to spring; her leg muscles bunched up as well. But she managed to contain her fury, allowing her fur to lie flat, her eyes friendlier. “I am no traitor,” she half whispered, imitating the hushed tones of Lightningfoot’s previous accusations. She struggled to compose herself and hissed, “Icestar doesn’t confide with you everything now does she? You’re not her deputy and never will be!”
Even a mouse-brained cat could see the logic in her words. Wondering if she had hit a tender spot occupying the Warrior’s ambitions, she furthered, “Oh I’m sorry. That’s what you really want isn’t it? You want to be deputy so much that you would kill wouldn’t you? Just like you want to kill me.” Her soft croon was sly; she knew Lightningfoot would be confused. Because this was also of her nature – her natural ability to manipulate the minds of others.
A soft mewl broke Silverclaw’s concentration. She swiveled her head to see Hollypaw pipe up in defense of her. A small, sad smile briefly touched her lips before her usual, aloof demeanor settled in. She nodded assent, but was still troubled to see the amber apprentice remain closer to the darker Warrior. Whose side was she really on? Silverclaw wondered on that, debating her next move.

Lightningfoot tipped her head to the side, ignoring Hollypaw for once. “Silverclaw.” She sighed. “I know more than you think. More than you know probably.” She looked straight at Silverclaw, smirking at the fact that she knew, though Silverclaw might not know it, about her night time wanderings with Thunderstripe, and despite her show of anger, she would not fight. “And,” She said loudly and clearly. “I never want to be deputy.” She turned her head. “I trust Creektwist, not you.” She turned to look at Hollypaw straight in the eyes, and relaxed. “Hollypaw,” She mewed softly. “I’m sorry. This is a battle you don’t know about, and I’m sorry about this. I know she is your friend, but I-“ She closed her eyes briefly. “Warn you about your choice of friends.” She breathed, knowing Silverclaw could not hear. She turned back to Silverclaw. “Go.” She said. “I know you do not wish to fight, for you cannot fight well. Go and never taint the mind of my apprentice again.” She did not look anger anymore, just tired, and for the first time, old. She carried secrets like burdens that she only shared with Raggedclaws. She breathed deeply, then turned, and padded away, flicking her tail to signal Hollypaw to follow.
